After years of holding pain in my body and carrying weight I couldn’t name, I reached a point where I wanted my environment to match the woman I was becoming, not the woman who had merely survived. That meant clearing out clutter—physical, emotional, and energetic—and creating spaces that felt like peace, presence, and possibility.
What began as a personal journey evolved into something more: the realization that interior design isn’t just about how a space looks. It’s about how it feels. It’s about returning to yourself through your surroundings. If you’re craving a home that feels like a reflection of your soul, here are some of the interior design tips that helped me shift from chaos to calm, one intentional choice at a time.

1. Start With the Feeling, Not the Furniture
We often start by asking, What should I buy? But a better question is, How do I want this space to feel? Before I ever moved a chair or hung a painting, I closed my eyes and asked myself: What would calm feel like here? What would joy look like in this room? The answers were never about trends. They were about energy—soft textures, natural light, warm neutrals, and meaningful accents that reminded me of where I’ve been and where I’m going.
2. Declutter With Intention
One of the first acts of healing I ever did was letting go of things I no longer loved. Objects carry energy. When we keep items that remind us of pain, guilt, or stagnancy, they become physical anchors to emotions we’ve outgrown. I walked room by room and asked: Does this item support who I’m becoming? If not, I released it with gratitude. It wasn’t about minimalism. It was about meaning.

3. Let Nature In
There’s something deeply grounding about natural elements. In my home, you’ll find indoor plants, woven textures, wood tones, and soft, earthy colors. These details quiet the mind and connect us back to the rhythms of nature, even if we live in the middle of a city.
4. Create Layers of Comfort
One of my favorite corners in my home features a plush sofa dressed in textured pillows, faux fur throws, and a coffee table styled with candlelight, meaningful books, and a beloved plant. It didn’t come together all at once—it evolved. I learned what I need, what I like most in this space, and added it in. Pillows for comfort, candles for ambiance, books for relaxation – that’s the beauty of a layered space. There’s more than one way to relax, going beyond physical comfort to being emotionally comforting as well.

5. Design Your Rituals Into the Space
Your home should support your rhythms. For me, that meant creating little sanctuaries throughout the house—places where I could write, meditate, pray, or drink tea in silence. One space near the window holds my favorite journal, a crystal bowl, and soft music queued up on a speaker. Another is my kitchen, where I prepare charcuterie and pour wine while hosting people I love. These moments—mundane and sacred—deserve a home of their own.
6. Honor the Past, But Design for the Present
I love integrating vintage finds into my home, not just for their charm, but for the stories they carry. At the same time, I’m mindful not to overdecorate with nostalgia. Healing is about honoring your past while living fully in your present. That might look like framing an old recipe from a loved one, displaying a ceramic bowl from childhood, or simply using a piece of fabric passed down from your grandmother as a table runner.

7. Give Yourself Permission to Change Things
Your home should grow with you. I can’t count the number of times I’ve rearranged a shelf or swapped out art because it no longer felt like me. That’s okay. Just like healing, design is a process, not a destination. You don’t need a reason to refresh your space. You only need a moment of honesty with yourself. Does this still feel good? Does this still feel like home?
