The good news? You don’t have to rush it. Creating a home you love is a process — one that can be fun, soulful, and deeply personal. Let’s explore a few ways to start gathering home decor inspiration that helps you bring your vision to life.

Curate the Space with Intention
Before you buy anything or start pinning ideas, take a moment to really think about the space you’re working with. What’s the purpose of this room? How do you want it to feel? Maybe your bedroom is your sanctuary—a calm, cozy place to rest and recharge. In that case, you might lean into soft textures, neutral tones, or soothing colors that encourage relaxation.
Or maybe you’re designing a dining area that’s all about connection, laughter, and vibrant energy. In that space, you might go bold with color, add plants for life and texture, or mix in fun, conversation-starting decor pieces. Starting with a feeling or vision helps guide your choices — and makes the whole decorating process feel a lot more personal.
Find a Statement Piece or Color Palette
One of my favorite ways to start decorating is by finding a piece I love and letting everything else build around that. It could be a beautiful piece of art, an antique chair, or even a color that makes you feel calm and happy every time you see it. That one piece can inspire a whole room.
Starting with a color palette is another simple way to help your space feel cohesive. Think about tones you’re naturally drawn to. Earthy and warm? Bright and playful? Clean and neutral? Once you land on a palette, it becomes easier to choose furniture, textiles, and decor that all work together. And don’t be afraid to play with pattern and texture! Wallpaper, throw pillows, or a statement rug can all bring personality and depth into your space.

Look for Inspiration Online
There is endless inspiration right at your fingertips. I love scrolling through Pinterest, looking at homemade decor on Etsy, saving posts from designers on Instagram, or watching home tours on YouTube to spark ideas. Social media makes it easy to explore different styles, discover new creators, and find looks you may have never considered before. It’s also a great way to start figuring out what you’re naturally drawn to. Notice which images or spaces you keep saving—there’s usually a pattern there!
Find Inspiration All Around You
Sometimes the best ideas come from the world around you. Pay attention to the homes, architecture, and little details you notice as you walk through your neighborhood or travel to new places. Notice the lighting, the textures, the shapes, the way colors play together. It may be something you want to bring into your home. Nature is also a beautiful source of inspiration. Maybe you love the muted greens of a forest, the soft pink of seashells, or the warmth of natural wood. Let those moments guide your decor choices.
Flip Through Coffee Table Books & Magazines
There’s something so inspiring about flipping through a beautiful book or magazine. Not only do they spark ideas, but they can also be decor pieces themselves! Interior design magazines often feature curated spaces and ideas from professional designers. And coffee table books—whether they’re about art, photography, fashion, or travel—can open your eyes to colors, patterns, and details you may want to bring into your home. Plus, they make lovely conversation starters in any living room.

Shop In Person
While online inspiration is wonderful, nothing compares to seeing pieces in person. Take an afternoon to wander through antique shops, local boutiques, or home decor stores. Touch the fabrics, notice the textures, and see how different pieces catch the light. Bring a photo of your space on your phone so you can easily imagine how a new piece might fit in. And don’t be afraid to go thrifting — you never know what unique treasures you’ll find!

I’ve always believed that our homes are a reflection of our hearts.
